Oxnard has a dynamic and diverse economy that is driven by manufacturing, defense, agriculture, tourism and the U.S. Navy. It is one of the cities that occupy what is known as the Oxnard Plain, one of the most fertile areas in the world. Strawberries and beans are two of it’s most famous crops. The town  supplies about one third of the State’s annual strawberry volume. It also  has over 20 miles of scenic and uncrowded beaches sitting on its coastline.

The Channel Islands Harbor is located on the south shore of the town , and is nicknamed: “Gateway to the Channel Islands” because of the high number of vessels that sail to the islands out of the harbor.
